About Matthew Rodriguez

Matthew Rodriguez is a new American poet who was born and raised in Buffalo, NY. He currently resides in Northeast Ohio.

He comes from a family of Puerto Rican, and Polish descent. He considers himself extremely lucky to have such a dynamic background. It provided him with great values, morals, and richness in culture. His entire family is very important to him and loves them all. He is a man who has a strong faith in God.

Matthew has a variety of interests and hobbies. Including his love for sports especially his hometown Buffalo Bills and Sabres. He is drawn to nature and frequently hikes. He could be referred to as a waterfall hunter.

He loves life, he’s been blessed in it, and is grateful for it. He also has endured struggles, tremendous loss, and gone through difficult pain.

Matthew has a big heart for his family, friends, and even strangers. He knows he’s not a perfect man, but he strives to be a better one everyday.

Matthew’s passion for writing poetry started his Freshman year at McKinley High School. Throughout his life it became an outlet of life experiences. It was a hidden talent which he only shared with a select group of family members and friends. Often being told you’re very talented and should have this published. He was always appreciative of that feedback, confident in his poetry, but not confident enough of the thought on his work becoming published. Three years ago in 2021 that changed. For his godmother’s birthday he snapped a picture of a waterfall and included a small poem about her with it. It’s on her mantel today. He was surprised how much it moved her.

In October of this year 2024, Matthew had his first poetry book published from Amazon. It’s titled Love Perspectives. His main objective of this book in his own words “ if something is gained from it that’s truly what matters most.”
